10. Arriving at your destination : Take your time

Disembarking – If you are not in a rush to leave the plane, then sit and wait until everyone leaves before you disembark the plane. Your children can relax more and you too, instead of pushing and standing between everyone all trying to leave at the same time.

Arrivals – When you disembark, depending on which country you land in, there are usually strollers near the arrivals hall. Most Middle Eastern countries like Qatar, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates have these ready as soon as you leave the air-bridge.

Bathroom Check – This saves you looking for one when you are waiting outside the terminal. Children will never really tell you they need the bathroom until it is too late, so it’s important to make them go when you can.

Hydrate – It is important to hydrate after a long flight for several reasons:

  1. Dehydration: The dry cabin air in an aeroplane can lead to dehydration, especially during long flights. Hydrating after a flight can help replenish lost fluids and restore hydration levels.
  2. Improved energy: Staying hydrated can help improve energy levels and reduce feelings of fatigue and sluggishness after a long flight.
  3. Better health: Adequate hydration can help support the immune system and prevent health issues such as headaches, dizziness, and dry skin.
  4. Enhanced digestion: Drinking water after a flight can help flush out toxins and improve digestion, which can be disrupted during travel due to changes in diet, sleep patterns, and stress levels.

In conclusion, travelling with kids can be a fun and exciting experience if you are well-prepared. From packing the right essentials, checking all travel documents, and arriving early at the airport, to being mindful of hydration, boarding last, and selecting the right seats, these tips can help make your travels with kids a smooth and enjoyable experience. Remember to stay flexible and open to changes, and always prioritise the comfort and safety of your children. With proper planning and preparation, travelling with kids can be a wonderful opportunity for families to bond and create lasting memories. Happy travels!
