10 Reasons why Travel will benefit your children.

Travelling with your kids while are are young will benefit your children in so many ways, and here are my reasons why.

As a mom, I’ve always believed that travel is one of the best things you can do for your kids. Not only does it give them an opportunity to learn about different cultures and ways of life, but it can also help them develop important skills that will serve them well throughout their lives. In this blog post, I want to share with you ten reasons why I believe travelling with your kids from a very young age will benefit them.

Travel will benefit your children

1. It promotes curiosity and a love of learning.

Travelling gives children an opportunity to learn about different cultures, languages, and ways of life. It can spark their curiosity and encourage them to learn more about the world around them. I have been travelling with my babies since they were six months old. I believe that it is so important to expose them to different cultures, food and climates at an early age so that they can learn.

2. It encourages independence and responsibility.

Travelling with kids requires a lot of planning and preparation. When kids are involved in the planning process, they learn to take responsibility for their own needs and become more independent.

3. It helps develop problem-solving skills.

Travel can be unpredictable, and things don’t always go as planned. Kids learn to adapt to new situations and come up with creative solutions to problems they encounter on the road.

4. It provides an opportunity to bond as a family.

Travelling with your kids creates a shared experience that you’ll all remember for years to come. It can be a time to bond and strengthen your relationships as a family.

5. It teaches kids to be open-minded and accepting of others.

Exposure to different cultures and ways of life can help kids develop empathy and understanding for others who may be different from themselves. We lived in the Middle East for fourteen years, and Tia grew up there, and so was always immersed in the Arabic and Muslim culture. Se loves Middle Eastern food and has always been respectful of their religion and way of life as she went to school with Muslim and International children.

6. It improves language skills.

Travelling to a place where a different language is spoken can help kids develop their language skills. They may be more motivated to learn a new language when they see the practical benefits of being able to communicate with locals. I grew up surrounded by different languages all in the one Solomon Islands, so as a result, my ability to understand the basic words in multiple languages has always been easy for me. Having spent so much time recently back in Fiji has made my children learn more and more Fijian everyday as I did when I was little.

7. It expands their palate and introduces them to new foods.

Trying new foods is a big part of travel, and it can help kids develop a more adventurous palate. They may discover new foods they love and become more willing to try new things in the future.

8. It teaches kids to be adaptable and flexible.

Travel plans can change quickly, and kids who travel learn to be flexible and adaptable in the face of unexpected challenges. In our case, our travel plans change a lot because a huge majority of our flights in summer are on standby. I mean, why not when we can right? So my kids are very flexible and used to it.

9. It promotes physical activity and outdoor play.

Travel often involves a lot of walking and physical activity, which is good for kids’ health and wellbeing. It also gives them an opportunity to explore the outdoors and enjoy nature. I find that when we do travel, my children become much stronger as they are getting more physical exercise as we tend to walk a lot more when exploring new cities. I took them to Hawaii recently over Christmas and Isla walked so much she had amazing sleep every night .
