Life as a local in the Solomon Islands

Eco-tourist destination

The Solomon Islands is a great place for eco-tourism. As one of the most biodiverse countries in the world, its home to over 1,200 species of fish and over 200 types of birds. If you’re looking for an adventure, there are many hiking trails that lead through lush forest landscapes or across rugged mountainscapes where you can spot wild animals like exotic birds, possums or crocodiles.

The people here are also welcoming and friendly–they have a reputation for being some of the friendliest people on earth! So if you’re looking for an exotic destination with breathtaking scenery and friendly locals, look no further than this remote island chain off Papua New Guinea’s coast: The Solomon Islands

For the best snorkel and diving experience, you will need to fly out to the Western Province, to either Munda or Gizo ( Ghizo) . Solomon Airlines flies multiple times daily between Honiara and the western islands of the Solomons.

My Recommendation: Fly to Munda or Gizo for a few days and explore the gorgeous islands there.
